God's surprising ways of bringing our hearts back to where it all started for the sake of His unfailing love and greater purpose.

Our Story

Our stories often involve moments of returning to places where our hearts were stretched and transformed...maybe as a reminder of His faithfulness and enduring love. In 2001, I had the honor of helping establish the first Social Work site in a rural community, serving marginalized and abused girls and women in partnership with an international organization and my home church, Amor a Quisqueya. What began as a step of obedience has become a testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Over the years, the Lord has allowed me to serve on mission trips to the Dominican Republic through Willow Creek Community Church and Crossroads for Kids. This upcoming trip is especially meaningful, as it marks my first time returning to serve alongside Amor a Quisqueya and this particular population. I see this as God’s gentle invitation to return to the work He placed on my heart years ago.

I have been invited to partner with Judson on this journey, where we will serve 90 institutionalized girls under the age of 18 who have experienced severe trauma, as well as the volunteers who faithfully walk with them. Through workshops, art-based and reflective activities, and intentional support, we will come alongside the church and its outreach ministries to children at risk—offering presence, compassion, and hope rooted in Christ.

I truly believe God is already at work in this place, and I am grateful for the opportunity to join Him. Your prayers and support would help make space for healing, restoration, and the love of Christ to be experienced by these young girls and those who serve them.

Our trip is coming up at the end of February, and your support would truly mean the world to me. The trip fee will help cover essential expenses such as flights, housing, meals, and local transportation. In addition, I will be providing most of the art supplies needed for our time with the girls.

I humbly ask for your prayers and, if you feel led, your financial support. Your generosity will make it possible for me to join the Lord in the meaningful work He is already doing through the local church in the Dominican Republic.

Contributions can be made by check payable to Judson University 1151 N.State Street Elgin, IL 60123  (please include “Jannette Simmons’ support” in the memo) or by giving online through the link provided.

Thank you for walking alongside me in prayer and partnership as we serve together.

In Him,

Jannette Simmons
