BACKPACK BEGINNINGS

BackPack Beginnings (BPB) was established in 2010 in response to the growing needs of underprivileged children in our community. This year an estimated 41,000, over 56%, of children in our schools qualify for meal assistance and over 8,500 children experienced childhood trauma such as abuse, neglect, homelessness, or refugee resettlement in Guilford County. To serve and meet the needs of children suffering from hunger and trauma, BPB's mission is to provide child-centric services to feed, comfort and clothe children in need. By ensuring food and basic necessities are given directly to children in need, we can make a positive and lasting impact on their health and well-being. Guided by a core set of values of integrity, accountability, and emphasis on service, we strive to ensure the well-being, dignity, and education of the children we serve is encouraged and awareness of their needs is raised in our community. Our vision is a community of healthy and well-nourished children is being met one BackPack at a time.
