Our Mission

We want to see the children and the parents in the community of Tassia be raised up filled with hope for the future, to break generational poverty and lack of schooling. We provide funding for a school within the informal settlement there we fund a feeding program and education for the youth, provide scholarships for high school then to college. The programs include life skills to the parents, Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" See us on Facebook- Beyond Vision Foundation or our website www.beyondvisionfoundation.org

Who We Are

Hello, we are John and Karen we own a farm and a roofing business in Washington state we have 5 grown up children and 10 grandkids. Here is how Beyond Vision Foundation began. John met Jackie on face book in 2015, she contacted him because someone told her John was teaching a class for teachers in a neighboring town of Nairobi. Jackie mentioned she was trying to educate children from the informal settlement of Tassia which is alongside of Nairobi. John asked' while running the school what needs do you have for the children? Most importantly " how can I help". Jackie explained how critical food was for the children in learning, when a child comes to school hungry, they fall asleep at their desks, she told a story of a boy she gave a banana to, he ate it skin and all, he said he couldn't peel it he was so hungry. Jackie explained, if we could feed the children, parents will let us teach the children, many of the parents are 4th and 5th generation with no education. Money for food to feed 60 children a day was sent after talking with Jackie, then rent for the school as a place to feed and educate children. Beyond Vision Initiative School grew quickly by 2017 it was 270 children. Beyond Vision Foundation was formed in October 2017 to give others an opportunity to join in and help these children and parents succeed. In 2022 BVF through donors purchased the school, Today BVF provides 3 meals a day and education for 450 children. Beyond Vision Initiative School has been given 11 acres to build another school about 3 hours outside of Nairobi this will be a secondary and high school for the children of the surrounding community and some from Tassia. With its mentoring program BVI school is now assisting 7 other schools around it with mental health care and Christian Union.
