Center for Enriched Living (CEL)

CEL (Center for Enriched Living) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by maximizing their opportunities for personal success, fun, friendship, employment, and community involvement. Founded over 50 years ago, CEL offers a variety of programs designed to support individuals with IDD: • Social/Recreational Programs: Activities such as bowling, art, music, and social events that foster friendships and community connections. • Adult Day Programs: The REACH and Catalyst programs provide adults who have completed high school with opportunities for continued learning, independence, and enriching experiences. • Employment Services: Assistance in securing paid employment that matches members' skills and interests, promoting independence and community involvement. • Mental Health Resources: (Currently on hold) The Robert Vihon Family Resource Center offers mental health and wellness support for individuals with IDD, their families, and caregivers. CEL operates from its accessible Universal Design building in Riverwoods, IL, serving 53 communities in the broader Chicagoland area. CEL fosters a supportive environment where members with IDD are treated with respect, empowered to make their own choices, and are connected with friends and the broader community.
