CHILDREN HORSES & ADULTS IN PARTNERSHIP (CHAPS)

CHAPS was founded in 2004 and is a Premiere Accredited Center with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International. We serve pre-K, youth, adults, veterans and seniors. Our organization offers four programs; adaptive (therapeutic) riding, adaptive carriage driving, equine assisted learning and equine facilitated psychotherapy. CHAPS employs 12 specially trained horses as well as 2 full-time and 4 part-time employees. Our horses are specifically chosen for their movement, size, personality and skill set. CHAPS' instructor is a Credentialed Therapeutic Riding Instructor through PATH International. She is certified to teach lessons in Ireland and Great Britain as well as the USA. The Barn Manager is a certified stable manager, equine masseuse and equine chiropractor. Health, safety and care of the horses is paramount at CHAPS. Safety for our clients is our biggest priority. Each client is given an ASTM-SEI certified helmet to wear during lessons. Volunteers and industry standards ensure the safety of each client in every lesson. Every client is evaluated before lessons to ensure a proper pairing of horse/client. CHAPS' clients participate in weekly lessons, Special Olympics Equestrian, local horse shows and special events.
