Our Mission

The Educated Choices Program educates middle school, high school, college students, and other community members about the impact of their food choices, inspiring them to make decisions that are consistent with their own values as related to human health, the environment and animals. By providing factual, mainstream information and promoting respectful dialogue, participants are encouraged to think critically about their food choices.

Who We Are

Our CEO, Lorena Mucke, founded the Educated Choices Program in 2016 after spending 10 years presenting to students in the Atlanta GA area. At that time, her vision for a non-profit education program that informs teenagers and adults about the effects of food choices on our health, the environment and animals was realized. ECP has grown exponentially over the years and now has over 100 educators in 36 US States and 4 Canadian provinces with future growth planned in other countries and in the US. Over 1.9 million students have seen our presentations to date. ECP is now the nation's largest, most effective non-profit education program focused on the issues related to animal agriculture and its effects on the whole planet. With presentations now being offered both in-person and digitally, our reach and impact are rapidly expanding both in the US and internationally. At ECP, rather than telling participants what to think or feel we help them find answers for themselves. We encourage students to think about their own experiences and examine their choices anew through an informed lens. Through respectful, non-judgmental and open dialogue, attendees are encouraged to choose a path that accords with their own values and beliefs. In addition to our work in the classroom, we are dedicated to supporting the acceptance and understanding of the benefits of cultivated meat as a positive and responsible alternative to traditionally farmed animal products. With this in mind, we have launched an educational website called "What is Cultivated Meat?" (www.whatiscultivatedmeat.com) designed to be a a central channel for disseminating a clear understanding of the science surrounding cultivated meat and the role that this new technology can play in the future of food and its' resulting impact on mankind and our planet.
