Fighting Pretty got our start when our founder, Kara, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer at age 26. While in treatment, a friend gave her a pair of mini pink boxing gloves, which - along with some hot pink lipstick - became her symbols of strength and womanhood during her journey. After Kara finished treatment, she packed up the gloves and some lipstick and sent on her strength to another woman who'd just been diagnosed. Those original gloves traveled to five different women, but Kara's inspiration has gone on to thousands. Our primary outreach is our Strength and Beauty program. Starting last April, we began working with hospitals, cancer centers, and support organizations all over the country to provide our iconic mini boxing gloves, some clean toxin-free lipstick, and a card of encouragement to women who are/have been in cancer treatment.. It's just a small reminder that they are strong, beautiful, and have a whole community fighting alongside them. Fighting Pretty also offers our Create Your Own Pretty Package program where friends/care-givers can personalize a care package with just the right items to speak to a woman battling cancer. We can even include a customized message and we've shipped these boxes all over the world. Fighting Pretty hosts a vibrant online community. We post daily encouragement and inspiration on our Facebook and Instagram channels. We do biweekly giveaways and virtual events that can be educational/humorous/poignant. Our Fighting Pretty through Cancer group on Facebook is a wonderful arena for women to ask questions, celebrate milestones, and connect with other women also on their cancer journeys from all over the world.
