Gotcha-Back Inc

Gotcha-Back Inc is a Detroit based reentry initiative founded by Tracy Carlisle, a returning citizen, released 2024 from Michigan Department of Corrections after serving over a decade in prison. Tracy's story isn't uncommon - but it's rarely told from the inside. After returning home, Tracy faced the same reality that thousands of returning citizens encounter every year: barriers at every level. Employment is difficult to access. Housing is unstable. Systems are complex and often unresponsive. And socially, individuals are expected to rebuild their lives at every level while carrying a label that limits opportunity. At a time when many national conversations focus on points pressing issues, returning citizens often remain overlooked - despite the direct connection between successful reentry and community safety. Gotcha-Back Inc. was created to address that gap. We are built on a simple principle: Intervene Early, Stay Consistent and Address Real Barriers Directly. Gotcha-Back Inc. operates at a critical point, right after release, when support matters most. Through direct engagement, we are supporting returning citizens in stabilizing their lives, reducing likelihood of reoffending, connecting individuals to employment and resources, intervening in situations before they escalate. Our values include, Accountability, Integrity, Lived Experience, Indepence, and Prevention. The work behind Gotcha-Back Inc and it's found has been recognized by MetroTimes and PBS News Hour, which reflects the importance of addressing reentry in a meaningful and sustainable way. I'm doing so we have established a functioning reentry support model in Detroit, built direct relationships with returning citizens, created structured service tracking and accountability systems and engaged with community stakeholders around public safety and reentry. While Gotcha-Back Inc grows, we look in the future to increase number of individuals served, strengthen employment pipelines, expanding community partnerships and securing resources to sustain and scale programing. Supporting Gotcha-Back Inc means supporting safer communities for returning citizens and Michigan youth. In short, we exist because the need is real-and immediate. Reentry isn't just about individuals. It's about families, neighborhoods and the safety of entire communities. With the correct structure and support, outcomes change. And that is the work Gotcha-Back Inc is committed to doing.
