Our Mission

Our mission is to increase awareness of the harpsichord as a modern instrument with ancient roots. It has inspired composers and performers since the 16th century, resulting in an extensive repertoire of solo keyboard works, chamber music and orchestral works featuring the harpsichord both as soloist and accompanist. Our presence on the internet illustrates the great variety of music that the instrument has inspired into the 20th century. Please visit our website and Youtube. Who We Are

Elaine Comparone and Ronald Smith founded the organization in 1978 and began presenting concerts that featured the harpsichord, both as a solo instrument and as a partner and supporter of other instruments as well as voices. Our concerts have taken place in New York City, upstate New York and during tours and residencies all over the US of A. We have uploaded our concerts onto Youtube where we are a vital presence. Our most recent uploads have been solo keyboard works by the 18th century composer Jean-Philippe Rameau. Our main base of operation is on Manhattan' s Upper West Side.
