Our Mission

HIP's mission is to empower high school students to tackle the health crises of their generation.

Who We Are

HIP is a nonprofit organization based in Miami, Florida. Founded in 2009, HIP is the only peer-to-peer comprehensive health education program for high school students in the country. Unlike the traditional health education class, HIP is run by high school students. This means: -No boring lectures! -No outdated textbooks! -No scare tactics! -No cheesy videos! Here’s how HIP works: -HIP trains 11th and 12th grade students to be peer educators. -These peer educators deliver a science-based program to all 9th grade students, at their school. -HIP addresses critical health topics teens are facing, such as depression, anxiety, drugs, obesity, suicide, eating disorders, bullying and abuse. -The peer-to-peer model creates a safe space for discussion of relevant health topics and helps to build a sense of belonging and community. -HIP connects students to life-changing, life-saving resources at school and in their communities. -Using Nearpod, an established virtual education technology platform, HIP is able to deliver the program both in-person and remotely.
