Who We Are

International Field Studies, Inc. (IFS) is a non-profit organization providing environmental education, scientific research, and cultural awareness through experiential learning. Established in 1970, IFS grew out of the increasing teacher interest in implementing field study experiences for their students with minimal organizational difficulty and expense. IFS continues to promote the concept of field studies as an important educational method. IFS operates Forfar Field Station, located on Andros, Bahamas, focusing on science education and research. Since founding, IFS has reached over 50,000 students through programming at Forfar Field Station or travel programs in the US and internationally.
