Our Mission
We are volunteers utilizing local knowledge + global partnerships to help families move from surviving to thriving
Who We Are
*Kisoro Community Volunteers Association (KCVA)* is a local, non-profit, non-political Community-Based Organization founded in the early 2000s by volunteers from Kisoro District, South-Western Uganda.
We exist because we believe the people of Kisoro have the knowledge, strength, and heart to solve their own challenges. Our role is to _utilize_ that local power — through volunteers, partnerships, and practical training — to build healthier, self-reliant communities.
*We are rooted in Kisoro.* Our staff and volunteers live on the same hills, farm the same land, and send children to the same schools as the families we serve. We speak Rufumbira. We know which path floods in the rain and which market gives the best price for potatoes.
*We are volunteer-driven.* In every community, KCVA trains local men and women who give their time to mobilize communities, follow up on trainings, and make sure no vulnerable family is left behind. This keeps our costs low and our trust high.
*We work where others don’t.* From the slopes of Muhabura , we walk to homes that have no road access. We sit with widows, youth, and small holder farmers to listen first, then act together.
*Our focus is simple: practical change.*
We train farmers to grow more food and earn fair prices. We help women save together and speak up in community meetings. We support orphans to stay in school and families to stay healthy. We plant trees to protect our steep land for the next generation.
