Our Mission

We exist to provide a safe, secure, clean, and convenient one-stop center for those in need of assistance. With multiple agencies located together in a common location, they can improve family access to services, better communicate to make sure people have what they need, make sure there is less duplication of services, and meet the future needs of the families in our area. Ultimately, we believe we can increase the employability and reduce the risk of homelessness for families in our region.

Who We Are

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is an organization formed to provide a facility for non-profit agencies to serve the needs of the low income individuals of the Ashland area. In 2002, a group of concerned residents met to discuss what they could do to provide much needed basic assistance to the less fortunate. From those initial meetings the idea of creating a centralized one-stop facility was born. In 2004, what used to be Johnson Dairy was purchased and the work began on determining how it could be refurbished to best become the home of some of the local nonprofits that serve the low-income people of the Ashland area. By 2007, the initial structural repairs and improvements had been accomplished and the interior space that was to become the new home for CAReS and River Cities Harvest was completed. At that time, the initial dream had become a reality. In 2011, The Dressing Room’s new space was completed. In early 2012, Ashland Community Kitchen joined, and in 2013, Clean Start was opened.
