Moving at-risk Alaskans from a life of challenges to triumph has been Nine Star’s mission for 43 years. This is accomplished through the implementation of a wrap-around service model that includes rapid response to barriers. Its core values are centered on COMPASSION for the individual, COLLABORATION in sharing community resources, and EXCELLENCE through its staff, services, and partnerships. Teams are organized into vocational and academic groups with overlapping of community services that allow for seamless integration with partner entities. The uniqueness of Nine Star’s service to Alaskans is evident in its program design which integrates vocational/academic training, medical/mental health advocacy, drug treatment/prevention, life skills coaching, housing, empowerment classes, and service to the community. This integration of services is possible because of the gathering of cohorts who align their resources with Nine Star in order to provide individual Alaskans the opportunity to thrive intellectually, emotionally, physically, and financially.
