Formed April 29, 2019, by 5 friends who noted shelter animals were not being tested nor treated for heartworm disease, we put our talents together, came up with a solution, and started to work. Within 3 months, we'd added a foster-based rescue to our list of services, and assist dog owners in getting their dogs tested and treated. Since inception, we have paid for the heartworm treatment of 21 dogs and made sure all dogs that came into our care were tested and started on preventatives. Puppies start prevention at age 8 weeks and the adopter is given one dose to carry them forward until they can get into a vet and get lifelong prevention started. We also cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, worming, flea/tick prevention, and microchip on all animals that come into our care. We have also covered extensive surgeries for injured animals, some costing up to $3,000. In 2020, we spent $23,440 on veterinary care for animals in need and we are still going strong. The purse strings get a little tight sometimes, but we haven't had to turn an animal or owner away because we didn't have funds to help them. We rely fully on donors to help keep us rolling, and they have never disappointed us.
