Spartanburg Academic Movement (SAM)

The Spartanburg Academic Movement works across Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Our physical office is located in the heart of the city of Spartanburg, 234 E. Main Street, Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29302. SAM's vision is one shared across our community: economic mobility for our residents, anchored in academic achievement, cradle through career. We value REACH: to pick up, draw to, extend; a continuous stretch RESULTS We believe in using local research and data to drive community action for continuous improvement. EQUITY We believe equal opportunity is a basic right and view all aspects of our work through an equity lens. ADVOCACY We believe in amplifying the voice for public education while shepherding equitable policies on behalf of all children. COLLABORATION We believe education is a shared responsibility of the community with families being our most important partners. HUMANITY We believe in the dignity and self-worth of every individual and leading with a humble and compassionate heart. SAM is a 501c3 nonprofit organization using data-driven collective impact and collaborative action to improve results for children and families. We are not a direct service provider. We apply, teach, and coach continuous improvement methodologies and practices internally and with our partners to ensure that all working to provide programs and services to children and families are maximizing their capacity to do so and aligning their actions to shared and measurable community outcome goals. We pilot interventions to improve results and draw resources to support the scaling of successful interventions.
