Our Mission

The Surf Bus Foundation's mission is to empower people to have a healing connection to the sea. We do this by engaging in ocean sports like surfing, swimming, and beach games; while exploring the wonder and beauty of the sea. Our teaching and mentoring provides understanding that encourages a lifelong commitment to share and protect our oceans for all to enjoy.

Who We Are

We are a non-profit operating year round on the beaches of Santa Monica, CA. We bring youth from all over Los Angeles County out to the beach, providing bridges over the gaps in access to the water: transportation, instruction and education, equipment, bathing suits, and lunch for all participants, aged 5 to 95. We partner with other organizations of scale to maximize our impact. Past and current partners include: Los Angeles City and County park and recreation departments, Boys and Girls Clubs, Heal the Bay, AltaSea, The Black Surfers Collective, and other youth-oriented non-profits.
