VIDEO ASSOCIATION OF DALLAS INC

The mission of the Video Association of Dallas (the 501(c)(3) behind VideoFest) is to promote an understanding of video as a creative medium and cultural force in our society, and to support and advance the work of Texas artists working in video and the electronic arts. VAD serves its mission through exhibition, education, information, service and advocacy. Our year-round activities include: VideoFest, A Video Art Exhibition Series spanning Media Arts exhibition the McKinney Art Gallery which will include a panel on Writing about Media, Frame of Mind (on KERA Ch.13), the Best of VideoFest Tour-screenings of short film and video from the annual fest, which visits colleges, museums, and cultural institutions around the state, supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts, and other screenings throughout the year. We serve the community educationally by hosting The 24 Hour Video Race, an event to allow for filmmakers from primary levels to prime of life, to conceive and execute a short film within 24 hours. Our weekly newsletter reaches 6,500 subscribers, as well as an active social media presence that disseminates information and advocacy of video in our community. We serve filmmakers by commissioning works, granting workshops, maintaining our Fiscal Sponsorship Program, and hosting rough-cut screenings.
