Our Mission

MISSION STATEMENT “My dream, thus mission in life is to travel the world and photograph beautiful, vibrant animals in all places and circumstances, free and confined.” Julian Starks - 2018 I am a Los Angeles based Photographer, Filmmaker, Actor and Animal Activist writing on behalf of VISIONS OF THE WORLD Inc., my 501(c)(3) Non-Profit company. Our first project was “LIFE Behind Bars” Vol. 1, my first Fine Art Photography book. The book was titled after the photographic series that I started in order to honor the beauty of animals in captivity, and to support the many individuals and organizations that have dedicated themselves to caring for and protecting these magnificent beasts. The conservation sanctuaries that I visited and featured in this volume are working in concerted efforts with multinational organizations to save species from extinction. Brilliant staffs, scientists, doctors, volunteers and activists, all working to save countless species from extinction staff them. I began my journey of photographing these amazing animals at TIPPI HEDREN’S SHAMBALA PRESERVE. I fell in love with the animals and the work that Tippi is doing there. This has truly been my inspiration! So much so, that Henson, Shambala’s Regal Male Lion, graces the front cover of this book. The book consist of 12 other Zoos, Preserves and Sanctuaries, as well. I created Visions of the World Inc., to help support wild animal sanctuaries and institutions like those featured in this book. A percentage of all proceeds from the book; photos and all other ancillary products will go to the sanctuaries and institutions featured within these pages. My mission is to educate people to these plights and get them and their children to visit and support these places and truly appreciate the beauty of these animals and the caring people who take care of them. In the past two years, I've hired a Project Manager, Art

Who We Are

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Julian Starks has been a force in the world of the Arts for most of his adult life. Julian began his career in New York City as an established working actor, having studied under acting teacher legends, Sanford Meisner and Bobby Lewis, as well as Martin Barter at the famous Neighborhood Playhouse Theater in many mediums including theater, independent film, national television shows and commercials. He studied at The School of Visual Arts in New York City and eventually decided to move to Los Angeles to further his education at the UCLA School of Film and the Los Angeles Film School to further his opportunities in filmmaking and television. He is negotiating the release of his first independent feature length documentary, “A JOURNEY TO SUNDANCE”. 'A JOURNEY TO SUNDANCE’ is about the spirit, dreams and struggles of independent filmmakers from all over the world, as well as his own 13-year battle to finish this film. He later graduated from the BROOKS INSTITUTE OF PHOTOGRAPHY in the Ventura, CA to continued his passion for storytelling in a new medium… It is this medium that best offers us the pleasure of sharing Julian’s love of animals as he presents, LIFE BEHIND BARS VOL. 1, his first Fine Art Photography Book. Julian has spent much of the last several years traveling the world photographing wild animals. At various sanctuaries he was educated to the many dangers animals experience in surviving in the wild, often dying or suffering due to the actions of humans. Julian was moved to create ‘VISIONS OF THE WORLD Inc.’ to make a difference for these animals by announcing their plight and by donating proceeds to sanctuaries and to animal rights causes. JULIAN STARKS An accomplished dancer, actor, photographer, filmmaker, activist, and entrepreneur, Julian Starks started his career in Cincinnati, Ohio, then spent 12 years in NYC.
