Our Mission

Our mission is to amaze people with the wonder of whales and dolphins and inspire global action to protect them. Our vision of a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free is not a noble gesture, but an essential means to sustain the future of our Earth by increasing the planet’s climate resiliency

Who We Are

The climate emergency is a very real threat that faces every single one of us. There are solutions. And they don’t come much bigger than whales. Whales are like giant swimming trees. They absorb huge amounts of carbon over their long lifetime. They are our allies in fighting climate change. And, like rainforests, they urgently need our protection. The qualified and dedicated staff of WDC work to protect whales and dolphins from the many threats they face through campaigns, scientific research, advising governments, conservation projects, field research, and educational outreach. We operate at international meetings and work globally, as well as working regionally through our offices in North America, the UK, Germany, and Australia.
