Grace and Life Church

Our Mission Statement is: "To Make Christlike Disciples in the Nations." We do this by reaching out into our Denver Westwood Community in several ways. Iglesia Gracia y Vida (Grace and Life Church) is a Spanish language congregation that is home to about 100 parishioners. Our church looks for answers to our community struggles by raising up leaders who seek God and love people. Many of our program leaders and volunteers are people who live in our neighborhood and have found Christ through our ministry. When society offers nothing but closed doors and harsh words we want our doors thrown open with the opportunity to know and be loved of God and his Church in such a way that stimulates worship, service and holistic growth. Jesus of Nazareth Compassion Ministries Purpose Statement is: "To Grace the Body of Christ with Opportunities to Evangelize the Hurting via Compassion Ministries and to Love Them into the Church." We have done this by becoming an official "Community Safe Haven" in times of gang violence, organizing community events such as our "Young Men's Career Day" and Christmas Drives as well as by striving to become a community Justice Center that will help all immigrants file their documentation and paperwork to help them achieve legal status. In addition we continue to collaborate with the District 4 of the Denver Police, GRID (Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver), area universities and colleges, churches, and service organizations like the Lakewood and Englewood Rotary Clubs to bring resources into our under-served community. The Academia Mauricio Saravia is our after-school program that endeavors to reach children ages 4-11 from the five elementary schools in and around our neighborhood. Our purpose statement is: To H.E.A.L. a Child’s Confidence by Supporting His/Her Growth in: Health, Education, and the Arts with Love. We are achieving this by offering three 8-week sessions where we provide the children with a hot meal, help with homework, an online digital reading library and teaching program, a physical activity time, and a one hour class of their choosing. Our 2017 Spring session offered classes in ballet (taught by the Colorado Ballet), cooking, carpentry, arts and crafts, zumba, and K'NEX (a machine building class). During our 8 week session we averaged 49 children in attendance every Wednesday. Our program is very unique in that our leadership and volunteers are from Latin America which puts our community at ease and gives them opportunities to serve as well.

The SPCA of Brazoria County is here to help Bring Love Home. We serve the communities of Freeport, Clute, and Lake Jackson, Texas. We are leading Brazoria County to a time when there are no more homeless pets through four objectives: Education. All animals have value and should be treated with compassion and respect. We believe in promoting responsible pet ownership, teaching children compassion toward animals, fostering a community of support for animal welfare, and bringing animal welfare issues to the forefront of community awareness. Spay/Neuter. The only way to break the cycle of pet overpopulation in our community is to prevent unwanted pets from ever being born. Spayed and neutered pets are healthier, happier, and make better companions. We are committed to providing low-cost, high-volume spay and neuter procedures to our community. Adoption. Adoptions are vital to our life-saving mission. Every pet deserves a loving home. We work hard each day to find homes for the homeless pets in our care. A World-Class Shelter. Every pet deserves a home, but the reality is that there are thousands of homeless pets right here in our own community. We provide shelter, medical care, and a place of refuge for homeless pets as they wait to find their forever homes.

Circle of Compassion and its project, the Worldwide Prayer Circle for Animals, is a non-denominational circle of people devoted to using action and the power of prayer, meditation, and/or focused thought to liberate all animals from human oppression and exploitation. We believe that, by adding the power of prayer to all the other animal rights work currently being done, this circle of prayers will: •Create an energy field of compassion and caring for all beings of Earth; •hasten the transformation we are seeking for a world at peace; •Strengthen us all for the work ahead; •Elevate global consciousness to the awareness that all life is sacred and interconnected and to the joyful acknowledgement of our kinship with every being; •More intensely awaken within us the ever-loving presence of Divine compassion and mercy. Circle of Compassion honors all traditions -- Our Worldwide Prayer Circle for Animals honors the prayer traditions of all religions and encourages participants to use any form of prayer, meditation, or focused thought that is comfortable. In fact, Circle members who have no particular spiritual beliefs but who believe in the proven power of focused thought are absolutely welcome. There are no requirements to joining the Prayer Circle for Animals other than an interest in helping animals through prayer or focused thought and a willingness to commit to faithfully repeating at least once daily this Prayer for the Animals in a heartfelt mood of thanksgiving for the ongoing manifestation of love and peace on earth. Other Side Academy

The Other Side Academy is a 2 1/2-year self-sustaining, vocation and life skills training program for men and women determined to break their cycle of long-term criminal behavior, substance abuse, and homelessness. Participants are housed, fed, and clothed all free of charge with financial support derived from our student-run social enterprises. We address long-term whole person change within the context of daily work and community living. Our students receive real-time behavioral and social interaction feedback consistently. Senior students and staff teach from lived experience and use radical candor to work through communication issues and correct dysfunctional thinking.
