Watertown Food Pantry
PROGRAM: We provide needy households with basic food items. As the number of adults and children in the household increases, the number of food items increases. The amount of meat a family receives also increases. In addition to these basic food items, we have a ‘free’ wall of miscellaneous food items. Families may take anywhere from 4 to 8 items; and these items are over and beyond their normal allotment. When we have LOTS of food in stock, we are even more generous in food distribution. It’s better to have it distributed to those in need than throw it away because it is past the expiration date. We give each family a “Milk Voucher” for Piggly Wiggly, which is good for one free gallon of milk. The amount we pay each month has substantially decreased due to the fundraising efforts at our local Piggly Wiggly store. In the waiting room, there is a corner cabinet stocked with donated books for children of all ages. Each child may pick out and take home one book each time they come to the pantry. These books come from a variety of sources........rummage sales, library book sales, fundraising events, just to name a few.

NourishED Research Foundation
The NourishED Research Foundation, Inc. (NRFi) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 99-2669462) that uses research to change the conversation around eating disorders and their social justice roots. We believe knowledge is nourishing and we prioritize research activities, findings, tools and skills (including research literacy) in each arm of our organization, leveraging research findings to empower breakthroughs in eating disorder awareness, understanding, prevention, treatment access, and clinical and lived experiences. We do this through a four-armed approach that aims to fill in gaps recognized in clinical research care in each of teh following areas and ways: (1) We provide free/low-cost virtually-accessible whole health resources for folks with low access ("entrusting your health into your hands"). (2) We provide clinical resources and trainings for providers that improve detection, screeining, diagnosis, treatment planning, stigma and other systemic barriers to care. (3) We use inclusive research to provide a more complete understanding of eating disorder pathology and treatment needs (including the 85-95% of folks who go undiagnosed, untreated, and historically are excluded from research samples). (4) We use social media campaigns and education outreach initiatives to change the environments eating disorders occur in. Our mission is to assemble and educate a diverse group of individuals, businesses and organizations to improve the Gowanus waterfront in Brooklyn and foster awareness of issues affecting New York- New Jersey harbor. The Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club intends to contribute to transforming a dilapidated, historically significant estuary into a self-sustaining, environmentally friendly and healthy waterfront to be enjoyed and treasured by current and future generations. By encouraging waterfront activity and stewardship of the waterway, we reconnect the community with their shoreline. Renewing this relationship strengthens the desire for remediation of our harbor.
