Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund
The Cancer Prevention and Treatment Fund is a charity that helps children and adults reduce their risks of getting all types of cancer, and assists them in choosing the safest and most effective treatments. It is the main program of the National Center for Health Research. What do we do? We conduct, analyze, and explain the latest research and help patients and family members use that information to improve their own health. Our free cancer helpline answers your personal questions about the pros and cons of different options to prevent or treat cancer. We provide help and hope to those who need it most. We conduct research that can save lives and improve the quality of your life. We explain research findings so that they are used to improve the health and safety of individuals and communities nationwide and around the world. We work with the media to help get the word out to those who will most benefit from it. We educate policy makers, policy analysts, and opinion leaders through briefings, hearings, meetings, and written materials based on the information. We share our publications and information with everyone for free We disseminate information that can change or save lives, to the people who need it most. Unlike most cancer charities, we do not accept funding from pharmaceutical companies that make the treatments that we evaluate or study. And unlike most cancer charities, our staff are trained in medicine and public health so that they can help those who seek our assistance. We don’t spend money on fancy galas or advertisements, we spend it on helping adults and children who need our help, and we spend it on changing policies to make cancer treatments safer and more effective. That’s why our small charity can accomplish so much.
